Experience

Over 15 Years Experience Working in the Field of Information Technology. Responsible for the management, supervision maintenance and training requirements of a very wide range of Hardware, Software and Network resources in companies accredited with ISO:9001.

Information Technology Project Management - Responsible for the design, development and maintenance of computer-based records management systems.  This included secure data protection, systems auditing and prevention of unauthorised access (event tracking) procedures for all security project work in either stand-alone or LAN modes. Additionally created customised software programming in the area of configurable and addressable Windows-based remote monitoring of real-time surveillance and intruder detection (IDIS) systems.

Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Technical Support Services - Seven years experience in the provision of CAD technical support to electronic engineering and security contracts. Working from initial site surveys, sketches and design  specifications to produce floor plans, wiring route overlays, schematic wiring diagrams and panel wiring diagrams to BS 4737, BS5836 and BS 7671. Conducted lecturing and hands-on tuition in CAD to engineers requiring C & G 4351 (Advanced CAD) qualifications.

SITO Security Industry Training Organisation Assessment and Verification Management - Accredited to deliver and manage the on-site assessment and verification of SITO candidates for SITO/C&G 1863/1864/1865.  These duties required both liaison with both lead/awarding bodies and periodic internal/on-site auditing to ensure compliance with the laid down standards and procedures.

Personal Computer Consultant - Over ten years experience in the provision of freelance software programming/analysis and the building of specialised stand-alone and LAN/WAN-based PC systems for the service and manufacturing industries.  Software de-bugging operations, whilst maintaining data integrity.  Advisor to both large and small businesses regarding their computer needs.

Training Management - As Head of an IT Department with a leading North East Training Provider responsible for co-ordinating, maintaining and developing programmes to national standards.  This included liaison with all lead/awarding bodies involved in the programmes being delivered and the collation of records.

Personnel Management - Responsible for the recruitment, interview and assessment of potential employees for the IT department and the welfare and counselling of employees placed in my care.

Achievements

The implementation of a company wide LAN which successfully incorporates three Novell Servers running different operation system versions 2.11,2.15 and 3.01 over different company departments.  The Network consisted of over 100 PCs ranging from 286 to 486 running MSDOS 3 to 6.22 also successful connection of Windows for Work Groups 3.11 to the Network and sharing of resources

The creation and development of a CAD department of a new multi-disciplined company in the field of protective security. This involved the setting up of an IT-based documentation system (including desktop publishing (DTP), accounts, spreadsheets and databases) and the CAD platform for all client documentation.

Assisted in the negotiation for accreditation to SITO/City & Guilds competence-based programmes and in the preparation of the documentation required to establish and deliver those programmes.

The introduction and development of an IT training department, which went from delivering single individual skills to delivering multi-skilled personnel qualified to meet the needs of the IT industry.  Successfully integrated both CAD and DTP programmes into the Organisation.
